Every opportunity comes with great responsibility as we heed God’s will . (Ephesian 5:15-17)   Sharing the Gospel to the parents of Nika at the village in our Sunday Cell group fellowship was a good opportunity to build relationships with Nika’s family. It was a forty-minute motorcycle drive from Battambang proper to Nika’s house.  I met her parents and younger brother. Nika’s father is receptive to listening to the Gospel. He was eager to read the Bible verses during the time that I was sharing John 14:1-6. The parents of Nika prepared our lunch and joined the worship. They’re glad to have fellowship with us and even harvested their vegetables for us to take home. Recently, three times already, Nika’s aunty, Pisay, with her kids are attending our Sunday cell group. Pisay is planning to soon study Bible with me on Saturday afternoon.     Shine Sunday School Teacher’s Training went great despite the challenges we’ve faced. Twelve beautiful Sunday school teachers wer...

Ministry is meaningful, but it is challenging especially during this pandemic. Nevertheless, as God provided the opportunity, His work will continue to thrive according to His will and purpose. Leakhena is spiritually growing and a good young leader. Mentoring Leakhena every week to walk steadfastly in God’s truth has produced good results. She looks after the welfare of the 28 young girls at Marlene’s Home where she is a manager. These girls are high school and university students and all are studying online for more than a year now. They are restricted to go out of the compound. God spoke to Leakhena’s heart to find ways, so they will still be productive inside the home as the majority is getting bored with long hours of online classes. And one is to provide a different creative activity that would help them grounded in God’s Word. So, she asked for help. By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, the girls learned their identity in Christ, using Bible passages,...

TIME — T hings I M ust E njoy and T hings I M ust E ndure. (Series of Shine reports) “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,     and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.”  Romans 5:3-4 I rejoice in God for He has a purpose in our suffering , and it is right to trust God even if the process seems long and difficult. These past months have been hard for many of us, but praise God for He is in control and faithful. It gives me joy and encouragement to witness the changes in Nika’s life.  She is growing in her newfound faith, praise the Lord.  Nika has endured challenges in her life knowing that it is for her own good . She has finally decided to surrender to God her carved idols at home by getting rid of them . She shared and asked for prayer during our Bible study because her mother is starting to keep and worshipping them after getting rid of them out f...

Love the Lord to Last Jesus replied, “You must LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” Matthew 22:37 “I want to know God, I know that Jesus loves me, but I don’t know what His purpose to my life is.” Nica shared with sincerity. She is 27 years old. She was one of the ladies that have heard the Christmas message I shared last year. One day, she came with Sreyleak to join the Bible study class. One-on-one talk with Nica allowed me to know her life’s aspirations. She is a new believer and has the heart to serve the Lord. Nica wants to know more about Jesus Christ. She shared how she wandered off, she went to different places in the country to work and to find happiness, but she did not find it until she returned to Battambang where Jesus ‘love found her. Will Nica be able to love and serve the Lord without knowing Him first? This is an exciting journey for Nica! The fire in her heart to know the Lord is vivid. She now believes that only Go...

One Step at a Time While having a good conversation  with Ah Vin at Shine center, her phone rang…God in His mercy and grace was at work mightily in our midst. She messaged and asked if she could spend some time with me. I have no idea that she took a day off from her work (She’s an NGO Social Worker), just to meet me because she missed the cell group fellowship last week. I almost did not accept her request and confirmed only later because of the changes in the discipleship class schedule I have at Marlene’s home.  After answering her phone, I saw a terrified expression on her face. So, I asked her what happened and she told me that her older sister had a motorcycle accident and it was her mother who has called her to come immediately. Thus, there was a God-given unique opportunity to pray for her and her sister. She’s a Buddhist and she doesn’t believe in Jesus yet. However, the Holy Spirit was working, after praying she became calm and went home.  Two hours la...
