When times of crisis come to our family, how do we respond? Does the pressure pull us apart or weld us closer together? Do we find ourselves praying?

Two months had passed since Chantou has been admitted to a hospital with severely burned body.  The wound heals and the skin peels off in layers and it is more horrible to look at than the first time he was admitted. Looking at him intently with a thinking that perhaps he is in so much pain but I haven’t seen a glimpse of pain nor a frown face because of discomfort. I asked him, “What do you need?” He mentioned, “I want a Bible with big letters, so I can read.” He lost all his little possessions on fire, so I was touched with the request.  He could have asked for something else…Another, visit at the hospital I brought his written prayer requests, a month before the tragedy happened. He looked & read it quietly and after that he inserted it in his new Bible. I saw a smile and peace on Chantou’s face. This is a testimony of God’s sustaining grace and mercy.  God answers prayer. Glory to Him!

His two sons, Phiseth & Visal are staying in the hospital as well, just beside at their father’s hospital’s bed because they have nowhere to stay. These two kids are comforted by our frequent visit at the hospital which is 85 km from Battambang. Praise the Lord! Prayer have encouraged this family and brought them closer to God. Chanthou might be discharged from the hospital this month of September. Please pray that his walk will not be affected as he cannot stretch out his legs yet.  He uses crutches to walk.

We plan to bring Phiseth at the center, after Chantou will be discharged from the hospital, so he could study. A small house at Takroak village is now being prepared for Chantou and his two sons. Poultry for his livelihood, so he could provide for his two kids and continue to study in Bible school. Praise the Lord for His provision!  God is good.

Pchum Ben holiday in Cambodia last week, it is like an all soul’s day celebration to which Buddhists families will bring food to Pagoda for the Monks and dead ancestors. My two students in a discipleship class: Vorleak, our secretary and Singim, our kindergarten teachers were worried that their loved ones might ask them to bring something to offer in Pagoda or to light the incense sticks. However, God is Sovereign; He knows the worry of his children and the prayer of the righteous availeth much. Singim and her mother have touched our hearts instead, they have cooked traditional chicken curry and beef loklak for us missionaries to eat not for the dead loved ones. God be praised for raising more Cambodians. This act of kindness encourages us as well to continue in sharing the Gospel of Jesus and be faithful to Him. Vorleak & Singim are now God’s instruments in their respective families.

God be made known. God bless!
