Delightful Tidbits in July

God’s love never wears out.

The monthly cell group went very edifying to one another and glorifying to God as His unconditional love was shared with 12 young people. Singim steps up not only in planning but in executing our preparations.  Almost everyone has helped and I felt physically relaxed. My main duty at that moment was to share the Gospel. Dara initiated the aftercare.  The highlight of this gathering was neither the fun games nor the Cambodian food but God’s message of great love and the good fellowship. In the conclusion of the message, I let them watched a video clip of John 3:16 portrayed by a father and son https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjSio8jur2Y. Two of the young people have the plan to leave early and yet have changed their minds until everything was done then they left with a happier heart.

Fun Fellowship time!

After last month’s launching of Shine ministry, four are now faithfully studying the Bible. Chomrong, Sopheak, Sreylen, and Sreylis are enjoying our Discovery class three times a week. We’re done with the lesson one—What is God like? The quiz’s’ results have shown that they have understood the lesson. Above all, the change in our relationship is now evident.  I can gauge the trust and eagerness to learn the Bible and their excitement to attend our monthly cell group fellowship are encouraging.

Mentoring Leakhena is God’s way of bringing the Gospel to the two housemothers at Leakhena’s workplace. Leakhena had invited me to conduct an intentional Bible study class among “Ma Ya,” and ”Ma Jan.” Ma Ya is 35 years old, single, and Ma John is 28 years old, married with one child. “Ma” is a short form of addressing these housemothers as Mama/mother.  These two have started learning the Bible with me since last week. Both are unbelievers yet, however, they are receptive to hear the Gospel.  Thus, I am excited every time I teach them! They study the Bible twice a week every Wednesday and Thursday morning at Marlenes’ Home.

Dimang was my student in English and Bible. He accepted the Lord Jesus as His Savior during our 6 months Bible study class.  I hired him at LOHI as an English teacher after he finished his English classes and He is a skillful man with a heart to serve. Later, he moved to the capital city of Phnom Penh to find a better high paid job. Last month, he asked me to write a formal recommendation letter to a culinary school that offers a full scholarship program. I did write a letter to the school and today Dimang was so excited to report to me that he is granted the scholarship. We both rejoice and we praise the Lord for His favor and blessing. He is excited about this opportunity that would help him and his family in the future.

Dara got married to Sivhuern, her classmate in university class last July 30. God’s grace in Dara’s life is evident.  And as her spiritual mother, my duty is not only to preach the amazing grace of God but to act upon it with cultural sensitivity.  Her mother and grandmother are becoming more open to seeking God despite the situation of Dara. Saeym, Dara’s mother has asked me to teach also the two teenage siblings of Dara, Daneth, and Danoch. Sivheurn joined our church worship for the first time last Sunday with Dara and will be pursuing in knowing the Lord through a Bible study.

Thanksgiving: Praise the Lord for…

1. Good health, protection, and His Word that has been my beautiful constant companion and help.

2. I am 100% supported in this first two quarters of 2020 despite the global pandemic crisis.

Supplication: Please pray for…

1. Bible study contacts: Sreylen, Sreylis, Chomrong, Sopheak, Ma Ya, Ma Jan, and Sivhourn, Dara's husband (Conviction from the Holy Spirit).

2. Shine Teachers’ Training on August 8, Saturday. Myra O. Sanchez (Filipina missionary & Counselor) and I will be facilitating this training here at Shine center.

3. Shine monthly cell group on August 15, Saturday.  Our prayer is to have at least 10 or 12 people to come and be able to hear the Word of God. This time around, I will be sharing about how sin came into the world.

4. Protection and strength for my home visitation every Friday and Saturday.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1Peter 4:10

Thank you so much for your faithful partnership in reaching more Cambodians for the furtherance of His Kingdom. How can I pray for you also?
