Life’s
Purpose
(April –May Missions Update)
Knowing the purpose of life is important, but doing God's will in our lives is even more important. This was the aim of the teaching I shared at the church and our Shine intentional discipleship ministries. God, in His grace, blesses us to go deeper in our relationship with God, because we are made not only to love Him but to work for His glory and His Kingdom.
Khmer New Year, also known as Choul Chnam Thmey, is a major
Cambodian festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of
the new year in the traditional Buddhist calendar. It's a time of celebration, family reunions, and
spiritual practices. This is a huge opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, the real source of harvest, joy, and life. I spent time speaking
at various Khmer New Year gatherings and taking special time with disciples
before they headed back to their respective families.
Mie Oun is understanding God’s purpose in her new found faith. She listens to the leading of the Holy Spirit. As a businesswoman, she is always on the go. However, she testified that when she slowed down and listened to God, she felt God’s strength and peace in obeying Jesus. One time, she was led by the Holy Spirit to pray in the area of the house where her father spent most of his time. She prayed that her father would stop drinking alcohol as this vice affected his health, and after a month, her father had stopped drinking alcohol, even when invited by relatives and friends during the Khmer New Year. He decided to stop this vice. Mie Oun is grateful to God for answering her prayer. She is also praying for the salvation of her family.
May highlights: Essa got the job for which we have been praying, accepted as a Livelihood Field Officer at Samaritan Purse in one of the districts in Battambang. Essa was my English student during her high school years and later in university, a Bible student, and is a disciple of Jesus. She will be finishing her university this month of June. What a wonderful blessing!
Training the Young Adults at church in doing evangelism materials and encouraging them to use it among their colleagues at work, family, and friends. I taught them how to make and use a wordless book, and their personal testimony. Everyone was delighted and encouraged to do their part in sharing the Gospel of Jesus.
I celebrated my 51st birthday quietly, as I have been busy with the ministry. But disciples, students, and friends have surprised me in simple yet intimate ways. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to experience His grace and power throughout this year. May has been a super busy month for me in the ministry this year. God is faithful in maximizing everything He has bestowed on me. Praise the Lord for all the opportunities He has entrusted to me; another year to love Him and serve Him faithfully by His grace. Thank you so much for your unwavering partnership in missions throughout these years. Indeed, we are called and commissioned with a holy calling and purpose. All glory to God.
Pray for:
1. Thailand-Cambodia border tension. Due to the recent military
clash at the border that killed a Cambodian soldier and injured some, the
situation is heightened with the closing of the borders. Khmer residents near
the borders are commanded to leave their homes and to live with their relatives
in other provinces far from the borders. Pray for peaceful resolution on both
sides.
2. Shine Intentional discipleship ministries at
CGI, GIBTK, & at WABC.
3. Church water Baptism tomorrow, June 18, 2025.
4. Good health, strength and protection.
“for by Him all
things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or
authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16
