YIELD
God is Sovereign
and His miracle works in wills that are fully yielded to Him. We
surrendered to God everything last week in prayer as we encountered the strong
battle before the baptism. Satan was roaring loudly by creating fears in the
hearts of the candidates for baptism and even causing physical harm. However,
spiritual victory is sweet to experience when we chose to wrestle in faith and
surrender everything to God in prayer. Praise
God for the 21 souls who followed Jesus in water baptism last Saturday. They were: Singim, Panha, Kimseng, Sreymom, Danoch, Channan, Sreylin, Leapheng,
Soury, Khun Neang, Srey Nich, Sky, Dynech, Dyno, Chanry, Reaksa, Theara,
Sreyda, Sophak, and Vina.
Sreymom, who expressed her fear came an hour before the
baptism with a smile—“Teacher, I am ready!”
Kimseng & Panha did not confirm immediately but
gladly submitted to God 3 days before the schedule.
Khun Neang had her grandmother brought to the hospital
because of serious illness days before the baptism that really scared her. She
is very close to her grandmother.
Danoch almost did not make it because she has no
transportation and everyone in the family were busy.
Singim was having a fever day before the baptism and did
not sleep the whole night.
Three girls from the dorm had a motorcycle accident night
before the baptism that caused a struggle at the dorm.
Vannarath, Pastor’s wife were three times almost have had
a motorcycle accident two days before the baptism and the ceiling fan’s wings
at church dropped suddenly hours before the baptism, Vannarath and her little
girl Sophia were almost hit by it.
I was sick two days before the baptism. Sun Leang, our
church leader was not able to witness because of illness. Moreover, Leakhena,
our church leader also was hit by another motorist while driving before the
baptism. Praise God she was fine and our official photographer on the occasion.
These
obstacles cannot withstand God’s power. The Spiritual victory is not going to happen until we utterly yielded to God in
faith. Another personal reflection on this week's journey. Thank you for standing with us in prayer that night before the event and
even gave a note of encouragement to me immediately. Indeed,
when we surrender our will to God, we will discover the resources to do what
God requires. Paraphrased from Erwin Lutzer.
Another victory, several of our students and staff at
LOHI graduated from the university last week also. However, the highlight was Kanhchany, receiving her diploma.
She has been anticipating for this moment to come since she finished her
Bachelor's degree three years ago. Finally, she was able to wear her graduation
toga and marched on stage after an arduous’ life. I’ve witnessed how she
thrived to finish her studies and was granted a full university scholarship.
She was the only Christian in a broken home, riding her bicycle to school under
the heat of the sun and rain. Her tenacity was blessed by God as she is now the
breadwinner of the family. Kanhchany had
yielded her life to Jesus at her teenage years and now at the age of 24, a
strong leader at church, a project manager at a Christian workplace in
community development program, a dignified graduate at her university, thrice a
representative of the government in Young Southeast
Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) to the US, Malaysia , and Philippines. Thus, God is great in taking full responsibility for the life
wholly yielded to Him. Kanchany’s life is another living example of God’s
mercy, grace, and power.
