God’s Love and Grace to Leakhena’s Life

Glory to God for the successful Christian wedding of Leakhena and Phirun last month. It was a journey of love, faith, and courage to do the will of God, despite the challenges, they thrived and triumphed by the grace of God.

Leakhena is now the country director of Give It Back to Kids (GIBTK) NGO. She grew up in a small village outside Battambang downtown with a difficult life; she rode her bicycle to finish High School. Halfway through, she lost her mother at the age of 14. So, she worked hard on her studies until she graduated with her Master’s Degree last year while supporting her two siblings in their studies. She was my level 7 English student in her university days and a Bible student in the past years. God’s great love, grace, and guidance have been Leakhena’s refuge and protection despite being depressed which led to suicidal thoughts, she overcame those obstacles because of God’s presence in her life.

Leakhena after university went to work in Poipet province (border of Cambodia and Thailand) for a short time. Until the leader of GIBTK messaged me to recommend someone to run the Home. This home was started in 2012 and God in His grace, I taught the Bible to the girls; and the previous House Managers inside the Home, and established relationships. So, I recommended Leakhena as she was one of the girls who lived in the Home during her university days. From that point, Leakhena has been the Home Manager of GIBTK Cambodia for years.

Leakhena and I prayed for her sister, Sreyleak, her two housemothers, Mak Ya and Mak Chan, her friend Mie Oun, her boyfriend and now husband, Phirun, Sreytoch—currently house manager of GIBTK girls dorm. God is in His grace and mercy, these names mentioned above are now the followers of Jesus Christ through our intentional discipleship ministry. Hallelujah! The way to reach where they are now and the journey was tough and still is as the spiritual battle is strong. But God in His mercy and grace, rescued and transformed these souls for His Kingdom and glory.  Jesus Christ is mighty to save!

Praise & Thanksgiving:

1. Successful wedding of Leakhena & Phirun

2. Spiritual growth of Mie Oun

3. Salvation of three more students at CGI Green Mango students'(not allowed to post their pictures for protection) & satisfying Khmer New Year’s celebration with disciples and friends.

Mie Oun, "One day teacher, when I prayed to God, the thought of losing my business, family, and all the material possessions I have now, and I asked myself, will I still choose to serve the Lord Jesus? God gave me comfort, that as long as I have Jesus, it is all that matter." This was during our Bible study. We were both in tears as the Holy Spirit moved our hearts. Hallelujah! Victory in Christ Jesus. Now, Mie Oun is starting to share Jesus with her brother and friend.
