Following Jesus

“If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” — Luke 9:23 (NASB 2020)

New Believer

I praise God for the gift of new life in Christ Jesus. On July 9, while I was grieving the loss of my beloved cat, Binx, God was also working in Kimheak’s life. Amid her family and personal struggles, the Holy Spirit led her to surrender her life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior—not simply because of her circumstances, but because she truly believes Jesus is God.

Kimheak’s joy overflowed after receiving Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Her heart was filled with happiness, peace, and gratitude as she embraced the new life and hope found in Christ.

Kimheak was six months pregnant at the time. Three weeks after placing her faith in Christ, she delivered her baby prematurely, but sadly, the baby passed away two days later. Please pray for God’s peace, comfort, and strength as she continues to grieve. I remain in contact with her and recently visited her home with some CGI staff.

Even in suffering, God remains good and sovereign. He is our source of hope, joy, and peace.

Water Baptism

After five years of Bible study, Mak Chan publicly followed Jesus through water baptism. She was baptized together with Komnut, a former CTC student who received Christ during her CGI Culinary Training last year. Both now faithfully attend Worship Assembly Battambang City (WABC) and are growing as part of the church family.

Pastor Sophin and I had the privilege of baptizing Mak Chan and Komnut.

WABC leaders joyfully welcomed Mak Chan and Komnut into the family of God following their water baptism.

Sreyleak, who received Christ during COVID-19 and studied the Bible with me for two years, is also growing as a follower of Jesus together with her husband, Rith. They are now attending Battambang Christian Church Community (BCCC). All glory to God for the harvest!

Celebrating our victory in Christ Jesus through joyful food fellowship at Shine’s Kitchen. Leakhena and her husband, Phirun, prepared a delicious Khmer meal, and we were blessed to have Kanhchany join us as well.

Intentional Discipleship

Im, Kunthea, Rany, Heak, Mie Oun, Toch, Leakhena, Mak Ya, Mak Chan, and Singim continue to grow in their faith as we study God’s Word, share life together, and serve Jesus Christ.

It is a joy to walk alongside Im through one-on-one discipleship and witness her growing faith in Christ Jesus.
Kunthea’s genuine faith in Christ continues to grow as she deepens her understanding and knowledge of God’s Word.

Rany may struggle with understanding, but her sincere eagerness to know God is clearly evident.

Mie Oun's birthday! She was super delighted to have a "Filipino-style spaghetti" on her birthday!

Discipling Leakhen, Mie Oun, and Toch has been a beautiful testimony of God’s amazing grace. Over the years, I have had the privilege of witnessing their growth in faith and, by God’s grace, faithfully walking alongside them through their personal, family, and work journeys.

Seeing them now shine for Christ and reach out to their fellow Cambodians for the Lord is deeply encouraging. My heart is often filled with tears of joy as I witness how faithfully the Lord works in and through our lives. All glory belongs to Him!

WABC Sunday School Ministry

The WABC Sunday School ministry continues to grow. Training, encouraging, and coaching teachers is both an opportunity and a responsibility. By God’s sufficient grace, we are witnessing the children grow in their knowledge and faith. Praise God for raising a new generation to walk faithfully with Him despite the challenges they face.

Sreymom is joyfully shining as she teaches Kids Sunday School, with Pathaya assisting her this month. It is truly encouraging to see the next generation stepping up to serve and lead in the church with joy.
What a great privilege it was to preach during Sunday worship on Faith in Jesus Christ, through the story of the blind beggar in Luke 18:35–43.

Prayer Requests

  1. Kimheak — for spiritual growth, peace, comfort, and strength as she mourns her baby.
  2. Im, Kunthea, Rany, Sreyleak, Rith, and Komnut — for continued spiritual growth and steadfastness in Christ.
  3. LOHI Teachers’ Training — for wisdom, good health, strength, and God’s guidance as I prepare and facilitate the training on Work Ethics this Saturday, August 29.
  4. Weekly and monthly ministries — Shine Intentional Discipleship, WABC, and CGI Culinary Training Class (CTC), including teaching and preaching opportunities. May Christ be known, honored, and exalted in all we do.
Following Jesus is evidence of genuine faith—it is not merely believing in Him, but trusting Him and living in obedience to Him.

All glory and honor belong to our Heavenly Father, through the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the gracious work of the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much for your faithful partnership in the work of missions. May the Lord richly bless you, keep you, and use you for His glory.
